Walkways, Patios
& Drainage In
Spring, TX.

Gravel and step stone walkways, paver patios, driveway extensions, French drains, and small retaining walls. Most Spring yards already have hardscape in them. A good bit of it went in forty years ago and is showing it. We build new, and we replace what has stopped working.

What We Build

Five Things
We Do Well
In Spring.

We build the parts of a yard that do not grow. Paths, patios, drainage, and edging. No lawn care, no lawn maintenance, no tree removal. If that is what you need, we will point you somewhere good.
In Spring the job is often half demolition. Working out what stays and what comes out is the first thing we do on the visit.

Gravel & Step Stone Walkways In Spring

Concrete step stones set level with 3.5 inches of black star gravel between them, held in by bender board. It is usually what replaces the pea gravel path that walked itself into the lawn years ago.

Patio Renovation & Extensions

Interlocking pavers on a compacted base, either extending the slab you have or replacing it. Which of those it is depends on the condition of the concrete, and we tell you that on the visit rather than after.

Driveway Extensions

Extra parking down the side of the drive. Older Spring driveways are narrow by current standards, so this comes up often. We tell you in writing which builds are rated to be driven on.

French Drains & Yard Drainage

Inlets, pipe, and grading that actually slopes toward the drain. On a yard that has been added to a few times over the decades, the grade is usually part of the problem.

Retaining Walls & Borders

Short walls, nothing that needs an engineer. Often this is taking out a leaning railroad tie wall from the eighties and putting in something that will not rot.
Spring Yards

Somebody Built
Here Before Us.

Cypresswood, Memorial Northwest, Champion Forest and Northampton were built in the seventies and eighties, and most of those yards have been worked on two or three times since. That is a different job from a blank lot. Here is what we usually find.
01
Keep It Or Break It

The Original Slab

The back patio is usually original, usually cracked, and almost always smaller than people now want. Sometimes it is sound enough to build off and extend. Sometimes it has to come out. That call gets made standing on it, not from a photo.
02
Wood Loses

The Tie Wall

Railroad tie walls went into a lot of these yards and they were never going to last forever. They rot from the bottom and start leaning. A short wall replacement does not need an engineer, and it is a one or two day job in most cases.
03
It Left Years Ago

The Pea Gravel

Somebody put pea gravel down without edging and it is now in the lawn, the beds, and the mower. Black star gravel does not roll the same way, and bender board keeps it where it was put. That combination is why the path stays a path.
04
Forty Years Of Additions

The Moved Grade

Beds get raised, slabs get poured, fill gets brought in, and after a few owners the water goes somewhere it did not originally. We look at the downspouts first, because an extension and one inlet fixes more of these than a full regrade does.
Sometimes we walk a Spring yard and the honest answer is that the slab is fine, the wall has another ten years in it, and you do not need us to touch either. We will say that. We would rather do the one job that needs doing than sell you three that do not.

It depends on the concrete, and that is a call we make standing on it. Hairline cracking on a slab that is still level is usually something we can build off and extend. A slab that has heaved, settled at one corner, or broken through is not worth building on, because whatever goes over it will move too. We tell you which one you have before we price it.

Yes, as long as it is a short wall. We take out the ties, rebuild the base properly, and put in something that will not rot. Anything tall enough to need engineering is outside what we do, and we will tell you on the visit if that is what you are looking at rather than taking the job and finding out later.

That is one of the more common calls we get in the older Spring neighborhoods. Pea gravel rolls, spreads, and ends up everywhere except the path. We clear it, set concrete step stones, fill with black star gravel, and edge the whole run in bender board so it stays put. It does not track into the house the way pea gravel does either.

We measure rather than guess, and on an older yard the removal of whatever is there now is part of the number. Step stones in black star gravel price below pavers over the same footprint. The site visit is free, the quote is in writing within 24 hours of it, and there is no starting-at pricing.

No. Spring is inside our regular service area and the site visit is free. Jobs are assigned by zone, so your project already has a crew on it before the quote goes out.

Under $5,000 it is 50% to schedule and 50% on completion after the final walkthrough. Over $5,000 it is 50% to schedule, 30% at the halfway mark, and 20% on completion. Same structure for every customer. The deposit reserves the crew, the date, and the materials.

No. We do not do lawn care, lawn maintenance, ongoing maintenance, or tree removal. If the grass is dead we have ideas. Mowing is not one of them. When it is not a fit we will say so and point you somewhere good.
