Walkways, Patios
& Drainage In
La Porte, TX.

Gravel and step stone walkways, paver patios, driveway extensions, French drains, and small retaining walls. La Porte sits on the bay, and being that close to salt water changes what lasts out here and what quietly falls apart.

What We Build

Five Things
We Do Well In
La Porte.

We build the parts of a yard that do not grow. Paths, patios, drainage, and edging. No lawn care, no lawn maintenance, no tree removal. If that is what you need, we will point you somewhere good.

Closer to the water, material choice matters more than design does. Stone and gravel do not corrode. Plenty of other things do.

Gravel & Step Stone Walkways In La Porte

Concrete step stones set level with 3.5 inches of black star gravel between them, edged in bender board. Stone and gravel do not rust, rot, or care how close the bay is.

French Drains & Yard Drainage

Inlets, pipe, and a grade that slopes toward the drain. This close to the bay the ground is flat and low, so where the water is meant to end up is the first thing we work out.

Paver Patios & Patio Extensions

Interlocking pavers over compacted base. A lot of La Porte homes date from the seventies and eighties, so more often than not this is extending or replacing a slab rather than starting fresh.

Driveway Extensions

Extra parking down the side of the drive, or somewhere to put the boat trailer that is not the street. We tell you in writing which builds are rated to be driven on.

Retaining Walls & Borders

Short walls and edging on the yard side of the property. Nothing that needs an engineer, and nothing at the waterline.
Close To The Bay

Salt Air Is Hard
On Some Things.

Bayshore, Sylvan Beach, Morgan's Landing, Shady River. Being this close to Galveston Bay is most of why people live here, and it is also worth thinking about when you pick what goes in the yard. Four things we bring up on a La Porte visit.
01
Pick The Right Stuff

What Salt Air Eats

Anything metal near the bay has a shorter life than the brochure suggests, and fixings are usually the first thing to go. Concrete step stones, black star gravel, and pavers do not care. That is part of why this build suits a yard out here.
02
Not Much Fall

Flat And Low

Ground this close to the bay is flat and sits low, so a drain is only worth installing if there is somewhere lower for it to go. We work that out before quoting rather than after. Sometimes the honest answer is a downspout extension and better grading.
03
Where We Stop

At The Waterline

On a waterfront lot we build the yard. Paths, patios, beds, edging, drainage, short walls. Bulkheads, piers, and shoreline structures are a marine trade with permissions of their own, and we are not going to take that on to keep a job.
04
Most Of Them Are

Established Yards

A lot of these houses went up in the seventies and eighties, which means mature trees, an original patio, and a yard that has been altered a few times since. Most of our La Porte work is replacing or extending something rather than building on a blank lot.
Worth saying plainly, because a lot of La Porte works along the ship channel: we are residential only. Houses and yards. If you are calling about a commercial or industrial site we will tell you on the first call rather than waste your afternoon.

Where We Work
Around La Porte.

Most people who call us saw a video of the work before they ever saw the website. That is a strange way to start a relationship and we kind of like it. Jobs are assigned by zone before the quote goes out, so the crew that pulls up already had your address on their board. Every crew on your property is in an Eden's Garden shirt.

No. Bulkheads, piers, and anything structural at the shoreline are a marine trade with their own permissions attached, and it is not what we are set up for. We build the yard side: paths, patios, beds, edging, drainage, and short walls up on the lot. We will build right up to where their work starts.

It affects the metal more than the stone. Concrete step stones, black star gravel, and pavers are unbothered by salt air, which is one reason they suit a yard out here. Where fixings or metal edging are involved we take the exposure into account. If a product is going to look tired in three years this close to the water, we would rather not put it in.

We measure rather than guess. Step stones in black star gravel price below pavers over the same footprint, and on an established yard removing whatever is there now is part of the number. The site visit is free and the quote is in writing within 24 hours of it.

Under $5,000 it is 50% to schedule and 50% on completion after the final walkthrough. Over $5,000 it is 50% to schedule, 30% at the halfway mark, and 20% on completion. Same structure for every customer. The deposit reserves the crew, the date, and the materials.
