What We Build

Five Things
We Do Well
In Alvin.

We build the parts of a yard that do not grow. Paths, patios, drainage, and edging. No lawn care, no lawn maintenance, no tree removal. If that is what you need, we will point you somewhere good.

Drainage is the reason most people here call us, so it is worth being clear about what a drain is for before we get to what it costs.

French Drains & Yard Drainage

Inlets, pipe, and a grade that runs toward an outlet that actually exists. We look at the downspouts before we quote a system, because an extension and one inlet solves more yards than people expect.

Gravel & Step Stone Walkways In Alvin

Concrete step stones set level with 3.5 inches of black star gravel between them, edged in bender board. Gravel drains through rather than holding water on the surface the way a solid slab does.

Paver Patios & Patio Extensions

Interlocking pavers over compacted base. On a lot that sits low, where a patio goes and how high it sits are worth thinking about properly rather than just picking the flattest corner.

Driveway Extensions

Extra parking down the side of the drive, or room for the trailer. We tell you in writing which builds are rated to be driven on and which are not, before the deposit.

Retaining Walls & Borders

Short walls and edging. Nothing that needs an engineer. Worth knowing that a low wall holds a bed line, it does not hold back water.
Straight Answers

What Drainage Does,
And What It Does Not.

People in Alvin have heard a lot of promises about water over the years. We would rather set the expectation properly at the start than have you find out the hard way. Four things worth knowing before anybody quotes you a drainage job.
01
You Know The Story

The 1979 Number

Tropical Storm Claudette put around 43 inches on Alvin in a day. That stood as the heaviest 24 hour rainfall recorded in the country for almost forty years, until a gauge in Hawaii passed it in 2018. No yard drainage on earth was ever going to handle that.
02
This Is The Job

The Day After

What we fix is the water still standing the next day. The corner that stays soft for a week, the side yard that has been mud since spring, the low spot the mower sinks into. That is a solvable problem and it is most of what we get called for.
03
Say It Plainly

Not Flood Protection

A French drain moves nuisance water off a yard. It is not a flood defence and it will not keep water out of a house in a serious event. Anyone selling you one as flood protection is selling you something it cannot do, and we are not going to be those people.
04
Think Before You Raise

Careful With Fill

Bringing in dirt to raise a low spot has to send the water somewhere, and on a flat lot that somewhere is usually the house or the neighbor. In mapped flood areas there can be rules about it as well. We work out where it goes before we move any of it.
None of that means drainage is not worth doing. A yard that dries out in a day instead of a week is a yard you can actually use, and that is a real result. We are just not going to dress it up as something bigger, and we are not engineers. If your situation needs one, that is what you will hear from us.

No, and we would rather say that clearly than let you assume otherwise. A French drain handles nuisance water in a yard. It moves standing water off a low spot and gets roof runoff away from the house. In a serious flood event it is not going to be the thing that saves you, and anyone telling you different is selling something it cannot do.

The water that is still there the day after it rained. The corner that stays soft for a week, the strip beside the house that has been mud since spring, the low patch that swallows a mower wheel. Getting a yard to dry out in a day instead of five is a real change in how much of it you can use, and that is what we are good at.

Sometimes, but not without working out where the water goes instead. Filling a low spot on a flat lot pushes that water toward the house or over the property line, and neither of those is a win. Parts of Brazoria County are also in mapped flood areas where there can be rules about placing fill. We look at the whole picture before we agree to move any of it.

Often, yes. Concrete step stones set in black star gravel give you a solid surface to walk on and the gravel lets water through rather than holding it on top the way a poured slab does. It is not a substitute for fixing the drainage, though. If the ground underneath stays saturated, gravel sitting on it will still be a wet path. Drainage first, surface second.

We measure rather than guess. Step stones in black star gravel price below pavers over the same footprint. Where drainage work has to happen first, that is quoted separately so you can see what you are paying for and in what order. The site visit is free and the quote is in writing within 24 hours of it.

No. The site visit is free and jobs are assigned by zone, so your project has a crew on it before the quote goes out. Alvin sits toward the southern end of where we work, so if you are further out toward Danbury or Liverpool it is worth a quick call to confirm before we book the visit.

Under $5,000 it is 50% to schedule and 50% on completion after the final walkthrough. Over $5,000 it is 50% to schedule, 30% at the halfway mark, and 20% on completion. Same structure for every customer. The deposit reserves the crew, the date, and the materials.
